Hello, my name is Susan Roylance and I'm self taught,  mixed-media artist. I work mostly in fibers. Wood and wool. Carving and felting to create enchanting creatures with carved faces and felted bodies. I collect discarded and reclaimed items to incorporate into my work. I'm a painter, work in leaded glass, wood-working and have recently tried my hand at blacksmithing. I'm a knitter/designer, embroiderer.

We live in the hills of the North Quabbin area of Massachusetts where I have a small studio on eighteen acres in the middle of the woods. Most of my wood for carving now comes from our fallen trees. We recently bought a sawmill and hope to put the wood to good use for sheds, a bigger studio and furniture making.

My husband and I are soapmakers for the past 25 years. My youngest daughter is an artist. Together we make up the Swift River Art Project.
